Jill Howard Design Studio is seeking a full-time Jr. interior designer and project manager with proven experience in all phases of design to work in our downtown Charleston Studio. This position will be instrumental in executing projects and will report directly to the Principal. Candidates should have strong design experience on residential projects where they were involved in all phases of interior design and construction process. Experience on commercial projects a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage projects from concept through space planning, design development and documentation, construction, procurement and installation.
- Prepare construction documentation; including drawings, schedules, specifications, and custom details.
- Develop FF&E packages – participating in the selection and documentation of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and material specifications. Create Estimates and Purchase Orders using our software system (Ivy).
- Work with project trades to meet overall project goals.
- Communicate with client.
- Directly participate with the Principal to ensure projects are on schedule, on budget, reflects all client and project objectives.
- Work as a team with the Principal and Design Assistants.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree. Degree in Interior Design not required, but must have experience.
- 2 years post degree experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building materials, construction methods and systems, project costs, and code requirements.
- AutoCad and Google Suite Proficient. Experience with Studio Designer software a plus.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with an attention to detail and follow-up
- Ability to prioritize
- Professionalism, a strong work ethic, and the desire to build positive rapport with clients and vendors
- Ability to problem solve and work with numbers
- Driver’s license and use of your own vehicle required.
- Current or imminent residency in Charleston, SC area.
